Heartlands

Heartlands & Polkemmet Restoration Scheme

This £500m urban regeneration project covering 585ha will restore the derelict coal bings and disused land of Polkemmet Colliery, by Whitburn, into the new Heartlands development. It will include a new business park, new housing and community facilities together with two new golf courses and leisure facilities. ANLA has developed the landscape masterplan fpr Heartlands and Polkemmet Colliery Restoration Scheme, prepared the landscape and visual assessment for both Environmental Statements and the M8 Interchange and is retained consultant for Cowhill Business Park and Heartlands Landscape Framework.

Coal mining operations and restoration works are now well advanced.

Appointed consultant to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority, Scotlands first National Park, to provide landscape advice on Planning Casework.

Spedlins

Spedlins Castle is a 15th century tower house. This new private garden has been created over the last 15 years by private clients from the concept plan for overall site developed by the Ann Nevett in 1989.

NCR 75

The upgrading of the National Cycle Route (NCR75) within Almondell Country Park at Mid Calder is now complete. The project within a narrow strip of woodland alongside the River Almond involved path repairs, some realignment to reduce gradients and improve the amenity, and the provision of safety barriers and passing places. It has been designed to meet the needs of both cyclists and walkers who are the majority of users.

Frome Snowfield Concept Plan

With part of the site planned for a new hospital, a consultation exercise was carried out to investigate options for the future use of the showfield. Working as part of the Hannah Reynolds Associates team, as landscape architects we have taken the results of the consultation, and worked with the local steering group to produce a Concept plan for the site.

The Development Framework Team appointed by Edinburgh City Council were led by the the EDI Group Ltd. Ann Nevett Landscape Architects were appointed to the team alongside CZWG Architects (Piers Gough), Smith Scott Mullan Associates, Michael Carley, Colin Buchanan and Partners, GVA Grimley, Deloitte and Touche, Summerfield Robb and Clark Ltd and Wren and Bell.
